  • AMGEN Scholars Symposium: Friday 21 February 2020

The application process will require you to:

  • Identify your top 3 research interests and preferred lab placement
  • Prepare a written bio and impact statement outlining:
    • what excites you about your chosen topic or research interest,
    • why you want to be an Amgen Scholar and
    • what you hope to achieve through the program
    • how the program will support your intention to enrol in postgraduate study
  • Provide your official academic transcript
  • Download the Referee Recommendation form and ask a Course Coordinator, Academic Advisor or Subject Coordinator from your home institution to vouch your eligibility and ability. Upload the form in the online application
  • Interview by teleconference with the host laboratory.

The initial assessment will be based on the quality of the written application, assessed by the Faculty of Science from the University of Melbourne. The host lab supervisors will shortlist up to 5 candidates.

An interview by teleconference, held in October, will ensure the best fit for both applicant and host lab. We will endeavour to offer the applicants their first choice of research project.

If you would like to find out more about the AMGEN Scholars Program, you can read an interview with Betty Xiong. Betty completed the program while studying her undergraduate degree at ANU and was able work full-time in a research laboratory to develop her research skills and scientific knowledge.
